Backed by a cache of private documents leaked by a whistleblower, a presentation on how Qatar bribed its way to winning the rights to host the 2022 World Cup will be held at next month’s OffshoreAlert Conference.

It will be given by Jonathan Calvert, editor of The Sunday Times newspaper’s famed ‘Insight’ investigations team and co-author of a book entitled ‘The Ugly Game: The Qatari Plot To Buy The World Cup’, which was published earlier this year.

The session is the latest in a series of OffshoreAlert Conference exposés about corruption at FIFA that began with British investigative journalist Andrew Jennings at our Miami Beach event in 2010 – five years before FIFA insiders were criminally indicted in the United States.

It demonstrates OffshoreAlert’s ability to not only attract speakers who know what’s really going on in international business but also our willingness to assume the potential substantial legal liabilities that come with giving them a public forum.

The 4th Annual OffshoreAlert Conference Europe will take place at The Grange St. Paul’s Hotel, in London, on November 23-24.

With a theme of ‘financial intelligence and investigations’, the event will examine a broad range of topics and issues that affect investigators, providers and buyers of international financial products and services, particularly those involving offshore jurisdictions.

The aim is to arm attendees with knowledge and information that will help them make better business decisions in the amoral, unforgiving, cut-throat world of international finance.

The OffshoreAlert Conference also represents a unique opportunity to network with an eclectic group of high-level participants in the top-tier of international finance, often involving deals valued in the hundreds of millions of dollars.

There will be 150-plus asset managers, asset tracers, bankers, company managers, trust officers, fraud investigators, directors, officers, and a lot more – essentially anyone who understands the value of information in international finance .

“There is no doubt in my mind that OffshoreAlert exposes more major international frauds whilst they are in progress than any other news organization in the world,” says OffshoreAlert’s owner and editor, David Marchant. “That doesn’t happen by accident. Attend our event and we’ll show you how we do it.”
