K-9 Unit photoCoordinated Police Response to Burglary-in-Progress Yields Two Arrests

Around 3:30PM yesterday afternoon, Thursday, 29 October, uniform police responded to a report of a burglary-in-progress in the vicinity of Up the Hill Road in West Bay. The complainant had returned home and disturbed two burglars in her residence, both male. Uniform officers on patrol and the Air Operations Unit responded, arriving at the scene within minutes. Uniform officers spoke to the complainant, and then, assisted by the police helicopter, gave chase to both men who fled from behind the house. A member of the K-9 Unit also responded and tracked one suspect to a nearby house, where he was apprehended. The second suspect was apprehended later at his residence. Both suspects, ages 21 and 25, from West Bay, were arrested on suspicion of burglary, and are currently in custody.

Robbery Mary Street Thu

Yesterday, Thursday, 29 October, at about 9:50PM, a woman was approached from behind by a man while she was walking along Mary Street in the vicinity of Arch and Godfrey streets in George Town. The man, who was holding a machete and whose face was covered, tapped the woman on the back, threatened her, and demanded her money. She gave him her handbag and the man ran off behind a building.

The suspect is described as being about 6 feet tall and of medium build with very dark complexion. He was wearing a dark green T-shirt with a black vest, dark jeans, black shoes and a white covering over his head.

Robbery Middle Road Wed

Just after 2:00am Wednesday 28 October 2015, officers from George Town Police Station received a report of a street robbery on Middle Road, George Town.

A 52 year old male resident of George Town reported  to police that 4 males all wearing black clothing and white skeleton masks, approached him on Middle Road. One of the males was described as being armed with a hand gun, who demanded  money from him. The complainant was struck on the forehead with the handle of the gun, by the gun man causing minor injuries. A wallet was taken containing cash, debit card and other personal effects.

The men fled on foot heading towards Maple Road. The gun man is described as being around 5’ 8” and the other mask men between 5’ 6” and  5’ 8”.

The matter is under investigation by detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department at the George Town Polices Station.
