Cayman: Police Investigate Report of Shots Fired in George Town

Just before 3:40AM today, 28 February, police were dispatched by the 9-1-1 Communications Centre to a report of shots being fired near the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Godfrey Nixon Way.

Firearm officers attended the location and carried out investigations. While doing so, several spent casings were located and recovered, as well as one live round of ammunition. No injuries were reported to the police as a result of this incident.

Detectives are encouraging anyone with information regarding this incident to call the George Town Police Station at 949-4222. Initial investigations suggest that this incident is not connected to the recent shooting in West Bay. There were no other firearm incidents reported to the police in other areas of the Cayman Islands over the past 24-hour period, including the District of West Bay. Police continue to carry out heightened patrols throughout the Cayman Islands, with particular emphasis placed on targeted areas.
