Cayman: Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development Welcomes New Director of Facilities Management

The Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development is thrilled to announce the appointment of Charles Mtakati as the new Director of Facilities Management, effective March 1, 2024. Charles joins us from the United Kingdom, where he distinguished himself through a rigorous and competitive recruitment process.

Charles is a visionary leader whose extensive expertise in strategic asset management and sustainable development aligns perfectly with our goals for the future,” said Mr. Eric Bush, Chief Officer for the Ministry of Planning, Agriculture, Housing, Infrastructure, Transport & Development. “His proven track record in enhancing facilities management through innovation and strategic planning will be invaluable as we aim to set new standards in our services and infrastructure.”

Charles brings a dynamic portfolio of experience, including leading a pivotal multi-million-dollar retrofit construction works programme to meet the UK’s net zero carbon targets. His leadership has consistently resulted in higher standards of service delivery, leveraging advanced technology to improve user experience and achieve cost efficiency.

In his new role, Charles will spearhead the development of a sustainable and cost-effective long-term plan for CIG’s office spaces, which are envisioned to be modern, comfortable, energy efficient, and safe.

Charles’s academic credentials include a Master’s degree accredited by the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), and the Institution of Structural Engineers (IStructE), along with a postgraduate qualification in leadership. His comprehensive experience working with Members of Parliament, ministers, and various governmental bodies will further enable him to make significant strides in his new capacity.
