Shooting in West Bay – one dead; and shooting in BT – man detained

A murder investigation has been launched following a fatal shooting in West Bay.

At 10.05pm last night, Sunday 15 September, police responded to a fatal shooting in Miss Daisy Lane, West Bay.

The victim was  Irvin Garlon Bush, 52 years of age, of Miss Daisy Lane.

It would appear that he was entering his residence when he was attacked.

A murder investigation has been launched with an incident room to be established at George Town police station. A Family Liaison Officer will be appointed to support the bereaved.

Shot fired– Shamrock Road – Man arrested

A man has been arrested and is currently detained in police custody following an incident in Shamrock Road, Bodden Town, last night where a shot was discharged.

At approximately 9.00pm on Sunday, a 56-year-old woman was entering her residence in Shamrock Road near to Will T Drive when she was confronted by a man with a handgun.

She quickly entered her home as a shot was fired. The shot struck the building.

The suspect is described as 5’8” to 5’9” in height and of medium build.

A grey/silver saloon car was seen to leave the vicinity at high speed towards the direction of Northward.

A 30-year-old man was later arrested in the Northward area in relation to this matter. He is currently in custody at George Town police station.

The woman was not injured but was taken to the Cayman Islands hospital in George Town as a precautionary measure. She has since been released.
