Preparations for Hurricane Season

The week of Monday, 4 June, GIS Spotlight unveils preparations for this year’s hurricane season, looks at a better insight into our collective health and revisits the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

First stop is a behind the scenes look at how seriously Hazard Management Cayman Islands takes being prepared for hurricane season. Discover how the various entities come together to try out scenarios and ensure they have their preparation plans, programmes and gear in readiness should hurricanes affect the Islands this season.

After that, we bring you information on a new survey underway to quickly take Cayman’s pulse and determine the prevalence of chronic diseases in the Islands. The results will better prepare authorities to plan action for the short term and help provide life-style changing support for the future.

Learn how you can participate in the better health survey to build up much-needed statistics for health authorities and allied fields such as health insurance companies.

Finally, we revisit ongoing activities in Cayman to help celebrate Her Majesty the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee of her ascension to the throne. See how you can be a part of history in the Cayman Islands as you share in the excitement of the celebrations to show our respect and love for Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.

Hear about programmes that will lead up to and continue beyond the 4 June public holiday to commemorate the Diamond Jubilee.

Produced by GIS Marketing and Communications, GIS Spotlight highlights government’s services and solutions regarding issues that concern and affect you. The weekly programme airs on Cayman27 at 6.30 p.m. on Monday and 6 p.m. on Saturday. Also, Radio Cayman broadcasts GIS Spotlight stories on Tuesdays at 7 p.m.
