Police Remain Vigilant with Traffic Enforcement

The RCIPS road safety campaign STAY ALIVE remains in full effect over the festive season. The continued vigilance of the Police in regards to Traffic Enforcement has resulted in 17 person ticketed for speeding, 9 for cell phone use and 4 for not wearing seatbelts  during last week.  An additional 44 offences were also ticketed. There was also a total of 20 MVA’s during the same period.

 

Since the commencement of the Stay Alive Campaign on the 30/11/12 there has been a total of 24 Arrests for DUI and 230 Traffic Tickets issued for various traffic Offences. In addition , 75 tickets were issued in relation to speeding offences .

 

Members of the Public are urged to be responsible Road users over the Holiday Period and in particular to use designated  drivers where necessary.

 

The Public Education Drive STAY ALIVE  will run until Friday 4TH    January 2013.
