HBO announces its October features and groundbreaking lineup of documentaries in the Caribbean

•          Hotel Transylvania (October 5)

Dracula (Adam Sandler), who operates a high-end resort away from the human world, becomes overprotective when a boy discovers the resort and falls for the count’s teenaged daughter, Mavis (Selena Gomez). Directed by Genndy Tartakovsky.

•          Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer (October 7)

This film tells the story of Nadia, Masha and Katia of the feminist art collective, Pussy Riot. They were accused of religious hatred in a trial that reverberated around the world and transformed the face of Russian society. Directed by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin.

•          Casting By (October 14)

A fast-paced journey through the last half-century of Hollywood’s history from a new perspective:  one that highlights the filmmaking’s unsung hero – the casting director. Directed by Tom Donahue.

•          Madonna: The MDNA Tour (October 19)

MDNA is Madonna’s groundbreaking & critically acclaimed two-hour concert that fascinated, enthralled and entertained 2.2 million fans. Madonna described the tour as “the journey of a soul from darkness to light.” This marked the singer’s first performances in the United Arab Emirates, Ukraine, Scotland and Colombia. Directed by Danny B. Tull and Stephane Sennour.

•          The Invisible War (October 21)

Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Kirby Dick investigates the troubling epidemic of rape in the military while speaking with courageous victims who have refused to be intimidated into silence. Directed by Kirby Dick.

In a post-apocalyptic world, Panem is comprised of 12 districts. Each year the hunger games are held and every district must offer two youngsters to participate. Katniss Everdeen (Jennifer Lawrence) participates in the games, but only one person can emerge victorious. Directed by Gary Ross.

•          Me @ The Zoo (October 28)

Go inside the life of controversial “Leave Britney Alone” web blogger and the Internet celebrity Chris Crocker. Directed by Chris Moukarbel and Valerie Veatch.

Documentaries

A new documentary will premiere every Monday beginning Oct. 7 in the Caribbean

Miami, September 26, 2013 – HBO Latin America announced the premiere of a series of groundbreaking documentaries on Monday nights beginning Oct. 7 and running through mid-December. The lineup is composed of 10 titles with diverse themes that resonate worldwide, including: Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer, Casting By, The Invisible War, Me @ The Zoo, Gasland: Part II, Pelotero, Americans in Bed, How to Survive a Plague, Valentine Road and Life According to Sam.

The documentary lineup includes (in chronological order):

Pussy Riot: A Punk Prayer (October 7)

Tells the story of Nadia, Masha and Katia of the feminist art collective Pussy Riot. They were accused of religious hatred in a trial that reverberated around the world and transformed the face of Russian society. Directed by Mike Lerner and Maxim Pozdorovkin.

Casting By (October 14)

A fast-paced journey through the last half-century of Hollywood history told from a new, often overlooked perspective: the filmmaking industry’s unsung hero – the casting director. Includes interviews with Robert De Niro, Clint Eastwood, Al Pacino, and other reputable actors. Directed by Tom Donahue.

The Invisible War (October 21)

Me @ The Zoo (October 28)

Gasland: Part II (November 4)

Takes a deeper, wider look at the dangers of hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, the controversial method of extracting natural gas and oil, now occurring in 32 countries worldwide. Directed by Josh Fox.

Pelotero (November 11)

Two top baseball prospects in the Dominican Republic face fierce competition and corruption as they chase their big league dreams. Directed by Ross Finkel, Trevor Martin and Jonathan Paley.

Americans in Bed (November 18)

From the privacy of their own bedrooms, ten couples offer frank, funny and often surprising insights into love, sex and marriage. Directed by Philippa Robinson.

How to Survive a Plague (November 25)

Faced with their own mortality, an improbable group of young people—many of them HIV-positive young men—broke the mold as radical warriors taking on Washington, DC and the medical establishment. Directed by David France.

Valentine Road (December 2)

Unravels the school shooting of a young teenager who had begun exploring his gender identity, detailing the circumstances that led to his murder by a fellow student, as well as its complicated aftermath. Directed by Marta Cunningham.

Life According to Sam (December 9)

Explores the remarkable world of 16-year-old Sam Berns, spotlighting his family’s courageous fight to save their son from the extremely rare and fatal disease Progeria, a progressive aging disorder. Directed by Sean and Andrea Fine.
