(Photo: Keen i Media Ltd)NASSAU, Bahamas — Cable Bahamas Ltd. and HBO Latin America teamed up this week to create an innovative new TV show designed to promote the launch of the third season of the popular HBO original series, Game of Thrones. The show represents the first time that the companies have collaborated on a production of this kind, and the first time that HBO has co-created a production in The Bahamas.

The 30-minute programme brings together well-known Bahamian actors Dana Ferguson and Matthew Wildgoose, who have previously appeared together as ‘Paul’ and ‘Kelly’ in Cable Bahamas’ TV commercials promoting their HD service.

In addition to serving as a lead-in to the new season of Game of Thrones, the special also promotes the free HBO preview weekend taking place March 29 until April 1, a limited time offer of a free month of HBO for those who sign up, and to spread the word about HBO’s video on demand service.

This occasion created an opportunity to discuss the possibility of a joint effort with HBO to expand the presence and marketing of the premium cable channel’s products in The Bahamas.

“Cable Bahamas is one of our top strategic partners, and we’ve been impressed with the things they’ve done on-air and off-air,” said Frank Arcia, Senior Manager for Affiliate Sales & Marketing for the Caribbean Region at HBO Latin America. “When we saw their past campaign, and the quality of work, it sparked our interest in creating a programme using local talent to promote our free preview weekend leading into the launch of season three of Game of Thrones.”

HBO would never have come on board with this new production if they weren’t confident in the top-notch results that we could achieve right here at home.”

“Free preview weekends, like the one coming up at the end of March, are a grand opportunity for subscribers to experience our great original content and other programmes first hand,” added Mr. Arcia.

The HBO Latin America representative also emphasised the importance of their relationship with the local cable provider. “Cable Bahamas is a true partner with technology, where they now have video on demand. This service really gives people the opportunity to catch up with shows like Game of Thrones.”
