The Cayman Islands Chamber of Commerce recently announced the re-introduction of the Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching and is proud to partner with the Ministry of Education, Employment and Gender Affairs with a renewed process for the programme.

The awards event is set to take place on November 30, 2013 at the Clifton Hunter High School’s newly built auditorium.  This year, ten outstanding teachers and principals will be honoured at this event in the following categories: primary school teacher in public school; primary school teacher in a private school; high school teacher in a public school; high school teacher in a private school; principal in a public or private school.  In addition, the Lifetime Achievement Award will be bestowed on one unique individual who has selflessly dedicated their lives to securing a better future for the next generation.

Nominations are soon to be open and all members of the public will be invited to nominate a teacher, principal and/or Lifetime Award candidate.  Persons will be encouraged to fill in Nomination forms electronically and email their complete form to the Chamber of Commerce.

About the Golden Apple Awards: First introduced in 2007, the Golden Apple Awards for Excellence in Teaching seeks to recognise educators for their outstanding dedication and commitment to the teaching profession, often going beyond lesson plans to ensure that students are able to succeed.  Nominations are open to the public and scores tabulated by an independent judging panel.  The initiative culminates with an awards evening where Ministry officials, Chamber representatives, nominees, their colleagues, family and friends are specially invited.
