Get ready to Rock & Reggae Cayman

Rock&ReggaeThe Cayman Rock & Reggae Festival is being staged by the Music Republic whose main headliners Air Supply, the British-Australian duo who has sold over 100 million albums and had eight Top Ten hits in the 1980’s will join Third World, the reggae band formed in 1973 with a sound influenced by soul, funk and disco. The headliners blend two unique and distinct music genres for a rare concert experience that is sure to transcend generations.

Music Republic announces its inaugural musical event, the Cayman Rock & Reggae Festival which will feature soft rock duo, Air Supply and Jamaican reggae band, Third World at Camana Bay’s Festival Green, Friday, 12 July 2013.

1043973_168863239952260_208418081_nThe Cayman Rock & Reggae Festival is being staged by the Music Republic whose main headliners Air Supply, the British-Australian duo who has sold over 100 million albums and had eight Top Ten hits in the 1980’s will join Third World, the reggae band formed in 1973 with a sound influenced by soul, funk and disco. The headliners blend two unique and distinct music genres for a rare concert experience that is sure to transcend generations.

The festival will also feature two up-and-coming acts Brave Yesterday and Chronixx. Artist Jamar Rolando McNaughton, better known in the music industry as Chronixx, has a distinctive voice which has earned him his place on the reggae stage. Chronixx has been widely regarded by critics in the music industry internationally as the biggest talent to arrive on the music scene since the legendary Bob Marley. Brave Yesterday, a group originating from Jersey, Channel Islands who credit their fresh sound to influences such as The Killers, Snow Patrol and The Police will also join the show. Brave Yesterday, supported in 2011 McFly, playing on the John Peel Stage at Glastonbury and released their third full- length album: ‘Kaleidoscopes’.

Music Republic’s vision is to bring together the Caribbean’s leading industry professionals to design and produce best-in-class large scale festivals and concerts as well as smaller scale musical events and stage shows. Music Republic is comprised of experienced, talented Caribbean professionals delivering scale-able, turnkey solutions to the diverse music entertainment needs of the individual and collective Caribbean islands. The group has three upcoming concerts planned in the Caribbean; in November 2013 the Caribbean Electronic Music Congress will be held in Trinidad and Barbados where DJ’s from Europe, North and South America and Asia will play electronic music bringing an Ibiza and Baleric styled event concept to the Caribbean. In early 2014 one major headliner and opening acts will grace the stages of Barbados and the Bahamas in the Music Republic concert Series.

R&R concert at CBayThe Cayman Rock & Reggae Festival is planned to be an annual event, each show featuring two established main headliners, one celebrating each genre.

The Music Republic Team The Group is headed up by Ian Hemming, Managing Director and CEO, who credits his strategic expertise to over 14 years of experience working in top-tier Global Financial Institutions in various capacities in the Caribbean, Europe and North America. In 2012, Ian served as the Chief Financial Officer for the Art of Music Productions Ltd, producers of the Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival headlined by Celine Dion, the largest music festival in the history of the Caribbean.

Music Republic’s production crew will be led by Robert Stewart, Director of Technical Productions. Robert has over 30 years in Concert, Tour and Production Management and has successfully executed productions in over 100 countries to date, notably the Yokosuka Festival in Japan; and the Ultra Music Festival in Miami, Florida, one of the largest electronic music festivals which attracts over 300,000 visitors annually. Robert has served as Tour Production Manager and Stage Manager for preforming artists such as Usher, Maxi Priest, 50 Cent, Roberta Flack, Sly & Robbie, Sean Paul and Anita Baker.

The group’s director of Marketing and Sponsorship, Dominque Silvers-Peterkin brings nearly 20 years of experience in the marketing industry. No stranger to the Caribbean “brand” Dominque has worked with leading companies such as Sandals Resorts International, Island Routes and Air Jamaica. Dominque has coordinated and executed a number of prestigious events in the Jamaica, including the Air Jamaica Jazz and Blues Festival, the five-day NASCAR Race Fans Beach Bash event in Montego Bay Jamaica, the Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines Inaugural Voyage Concert in 2009 and 2011.

Music Republic’s Principal in Cayman is well-known Attorney-At-Law and Notary Public, Mark Beckford. Mark Beckford has over 13 years’ collective experience in legal advisory services in both the public and private sectors in the Cayman Islands. A civic minded individual with a special interest in developing opportunities for the young people in Cayman, Mark embodies the guiding philosophy of Music Republic in its ambition to facilitate and enhance opportunities for young people who have an interest in the creative arts. Mark and Ian have been long standing friends since around 1998 when first Ian, then later Mark were students at the Cayman Islands Law School collaboration is the result of their shared appreciation for the warmth and hospitality of the Cayman Islands’ cosmopolitan society.

Music Republic has engaged the Cayman based consulting firm AtWater, themselves an experienced team with a track record of producing high quality events. AtWater will be Music Republic’s on-island representative, leading the marketing, public relations and sponsor relations endeavours.
