FCO facilitates disaster management refresher workshop to Cayman Islands

Keith Holman groupAt a UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO) facilitated workshop, Disaster Management Consultant from Florida, Mr. Keith Holman is providing a refresher and training course over three days for all disaster management personnel in the Cayman Islands.

The Incident Command – National Emergency Operations Centre Group 1(NEOC) interface training workshop that began this morning (Tuesday, 10 November 2015) at the Marriott Grand Cayman Resort runs through Thursday, 12 November 2015 when tabletop exercises are scheduled. The NEOC is activated and run by Hazard Management Cayman Islands (HMCI) during all natural and man-made disasters affecting the Cayman Islands.

Participants include from CI Government, Emergency Services personnel such as from Fire, Police and Prison; Chairs of NEOC Keith Holman 2Subcommittees with responsibility for utilities, shelter, health, financial, tourism and education services; and voluntary agencies such as the Red Cross, NEOC Manager and HMCI Deputy Director Preparedness, Mr. Omar Afflick outlined.

The workshop agenda covers from basics including the value of an Incident Command System (ICS) operating during natural and man-made hazards to the minute details of how the system works for the best possible management of the disaster.
