Deutsche Bank marks Cayman 30th anniversary with $30k charity donation

Janet Hislop, Colin Shaw, DB social committee and Pines staff Nov13Deutsche Bank has made a CI$30,000 donation towards the refurbishment of a local retirement home as part of its celebrations to mark 30 years of being in the Cayman Islands this year.

The donation was made to The Pines Retirement Home in Grand Cayman and has gone towards supporting the refurbishment of the Home’s kitchen area, including fitting new electrical and plumbing fixtures, new kitchen equipment, new wall and floor coverings and installing a new sprinkler system.

The project took around four weeks to complete and was undertaken by Arch & Godfrey who have undertaken work for The Pines previously, while a plaque to thank Deutsche Bank for their contribution is due to be unveiled in the near future.

Now the refurbishment is complete, staff at the Bank are planning to extend their support for the Home by paying residents a visit and lending a hand to help renovate other areas of the premises in the future. After considering various ways to mark Deutsche Bank’s thirty years of being in the Cayman Islands, staff decided that making the donation to The Pines would be a fitting gesture.

Opened in 1983 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, The Pines is a non-profit charitable organisation established to provide residential accommodation for the elderly. Today, The Pines provides 24-hour-a-day nursing care to elderly individuals who suffer from a variety of conditions, including strokes, dementia, diabetes, arthritis and depression.

Colin Shaw, on behalf of The Pines, said:

“It’s fantastic that Deutsche Bank chose The Pines to be part of its 30th anniversary celebrations. We welcome their significant contribution towards the refurbishment and the new kitchen is a wonderful and much needed addition to our facilities. It is donations like this one that ensure we can continue to give the high quality care our residents need.”

Janet Hislop, Chief Country Officer, Deutsche Bank in the Cayman Islands, added:

“In a milestone year for Deutsche Bank in the Cayman Islands, it is a pleasure to be able to recognise our commitment to the local community and help make a real difference for such a fantastic local charity. I am also delighted that staff are so enthusiastic about extending our relationship with The Pines beyond the donation to collaborate with the Home further, get involved in future refurbishment projects and visit residents in the run up to the festive season.”
