Courtisha Ebanks words:

“I find it very important for athletes to use sports to their advantage and come overseas and become a student-athlete. It was very important that i came overseas to study and play football because there were way more opportunities to what I want to pursue in life. I say this because since i came to america, i found that my life has opened to so many opportunities. For example, right now I have 6 schools wanting me, willing to give me a free education, if not, willing to pay off a huge amount of my tuition.

“I came to South Georgia College on an athletic scholarship for soccer, pursuing a degree in Health and Physical Education. My team played their hearts out, pulling through the season with thirteen players being the most and still breaking history for my school, ranking 3rd in the region. The level of play is huge here. Every game was intense. Having to face teams like Darton College( 2 years in a row Regional Champions) who only lost 3 games this season. One of them being against us and twice against the undefeated team in the region – Georgia Perimeter College.

“I want to say to the youths of the Cayman Islands National Women team that you should follow your dreams. Never give up on them. They are yours to keep. Don’t allow anyone to take that away or hinder you from pursuing them. Get off the island, go to college elsewhere, play football, exceed and take advantage of every opportunity that is giving to you. Opportunities come once in a life time. Take your talent elsewhere and bring back experience to our national team. Make something of yourself, make our country proud and be someone; that is my plan.

Ask yourself, “What is my plan?”

“Stick with the national programme and handle it with pride. Its a very good program to be involved in and i am very glad i am apart of the Cayman National Team. Without them i probably wont be where I am right now. Thank you all who believe in me. All my coaches and National Team staffs.”
