Cayman’s equestrian scene was graced with another major event.

The Cayman Islands Equestrian Federation staged a leg of the 2013 Fédération Equestre Internationale World Dressage Challenge. Wednesday’s action took place at the Equestrian Centre in George Town.

About a dozen riders came out to showcase their moves to a pair of international judges in Mariano Santos of Spain and Elke Ebert of Germany. There was a nice mix of familiar faces, such as Charlotte Hinds, and relative newcomers, including Michelle Boucher.

Unofficial results saw Thea Millward top the children’s segment with a score more than 64 per cent, while Polly Serpell was a frontrunner in the adult category.

Participants earned a spot in the dressage challenge by achieving a qualifying score of 55 per cent or higher in one of the local qualification shows. Riders trained with visiting US dressage coach Cindy Thaxton. All were eager to maintain Cayman’s place as the top country in its zone, which was the case last year.
