Cayman: Packages of substance believed to be cocaine washed up on the shores of East End

From RCIPS May 1 2020

Just after 11:30AM on Tuesday 28 April, officers from the Department of Environment were on patrol in the Collier’s Beach area of East End when they came across a torn duffle bag containing taped packages.

Police attended the location and took possession of twenty (20) parcels believed to contain cocaine, weighing just over 52lbs. (Photographs attached).  The parcels are believed to carry a value of approximately $350,000.00 CI.

An extensive search of the affected shoreline was carried out by land-based officers, the police helicopter, and Cayman Islands Coast Guard, to ensure that no other packages had come ashore.  No other items were found during the search.

Subsequently, the contents of the packages were destroyed at the landfill with the assistance of the Department of Environmental Health.

  1. As it is in Spain so it is in the Caribbean and South America where political power and wealth could combine in a strange mix. Thus Cocaine has value whichever part of the world it is shipped and distributed.

Moreover, with friends in high places who are always only too glad to share in the riches it brings, well, the world is not big enough!
