Cayman Charitable Trust gives a boost to R3

Jeffrey Goddard, Managing Director, Vistra Cayman and his team with Simon Hinshelwood, Chairman, Vistra Group present Bryan Hunter, Chairman, R3 Cayman Foundation with their generous donation.

Grand Cayman, May 18, 2022: Vistra Cayman Charitable Trust has generously donated US$75,000 to R3 Cayman Foundation which has been matched by the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation for a total of US$150,000.

Jeffrey Goddard, Managing Director, Vistra Cayman, said: “At Vistra, doing the right thing is a core value and something we strive towards every day. One way this comes to life is through our sustainability pledges, of which supporting our communities is a priority and a genuine passion of our colleagues across Vistra.” He went on to say, “I am delighted that we have been able to donate funds from the Vistra Cayman Charitable Trust on behalf of clients to R3 Cayman Foundation to help COVID-19 recovery efforts in Cayman.”

R3 Cayman Foundation Chairman Bryan Hunter said, “The generous donation from Vistra Cayman Charitable Trust will help us (R3) to achieve our goal of bettering the lives of people across the Cayman Islands who have been, or may be, adversely impacted by an emergency or disaster.”  He went on to say that R3’s short-term goals include “continuing to provide support to the community with food, utility and rent relief programmes, children and family services and wellness and mental health programmes for those who have been most impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.”

Since inception, R3 has donated over US$4.8 million to more than 25 local non-profit organisations and governmental departments and authorities supporting those who have been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. While R3 continues to support relief efforts island-wide, there is also a focus on the Cayman Islands’ readiness to ensure the various local communities and the country as a whole are prepared for any future emergencies and disasters.

As hurricane season is fast approaching, R3 will continue to provide support to programmes that focus on disaster preparedness and awareness, such as CERT Programmes.  Mr. Hunter indicated that the foundation is also working closely with programmes that aim to harden infrastructure and acquire equipment and systems used in the immediate response to hurricanes and other disasters.
