Budget has been found! (see FP story) Key employee to be abolished

Premier Bush announced in the LA Friday (15) the budget has been sent to the FCO (albeit late). He said there is a surplus making it a balanced budget with only a modest borrowing request.

The premier said that responsible financial management remained a priority for his administration and it had worked hard to try and lower all spending requests, which had exceeded his $498 million target set for the civil service in January by some $130 milllion.

Premier Bush also announced in the LA that the government appointed committee has recommended that the key employee provision in the immigration law be abolished and a ten year term limit introduced to address the issue of the controversial rollover policy.

Opposition members boycotted the LA’s proceedings saying it was not being held in accordance with regulations under the constitution.
