Johnny Depp will do everything in his power to stop any legal action against his wife Amber Heard from going to jail as a result of bringing their two Yorkshire pet dogs in Australia in April without the proper documentation.

In an interview with Jimmy Kimmel at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” on September 10, the 52-year-old Johnny Depp said that if the Australian minister of agriculture proceeds with his threat to put his 29-year-old wife Amber Heard in jail, he will fly to Australia and assault the man.

Of course, it was obvious that the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” actor was just joking because he followed it up by saying that he would assault the man so that he could go to jail too and join his wife.

The actor explained that they were under the impression that they had all the paperwork done for the dogs and in fact, they never attempted to hide the animals from the public, notes E! Online.

Depp said that they were there in Australia with the dogs in front of everybody. He added that there might have been other things smuggled, but certainly not the dogs.

Sarcastic minister

The Australian minister of agriculture Barnaby Joyce, in his press conference, around the time of the brouhaha said that if they allow movie stars even if they’re the sexiest man alive twice to break the law, then might as well allow everybody to do it too.

He added then that it was time for Pistol and Boo, the name of the two Yorkshire pet dogs of Amber and Johnny, to head back to the US, because he does not expect to be invited anyway to the opening of “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” when it finally hits theaters in July 2017.

The Australian minister also threatened to euthanize the dogs unless they were flown out of the country within 50 hours from the time of his ultimatum.

The threat was more than enough to send Amber Heard and her two dogs packing back to Los Angeles even as Johnny Depp have apparently spent over $300,000 to charter a Challenger 604 jet to bring his wife and pets to safety.

During the interview with Jimmy Kimmel, Depp also said that maybe Joyce was just doing his job. He also exuded his own brand of sarcasm when he explained that Joyce may actually be the sort of weird, sweaty-pated gut man who felt that a five-inch or six-inch teacup Yorkshire terriers would or could harm the country in some way, ending it by saying that the minister may have a point.

Changing his maiden name

Following reports that Amber Heard just officially changed her surname to Depp after her marriage to Johnny in February, the “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” actor said that he might also change his surname to his wife’s surname eventually, notes Time.

Johnny Depp was at “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” to promote his new film “Black Mass,” but typical of the outspoken TV show host, he asked the actor with plenty of questions about his surname.

Jimmy asked Johnny if he got his surname by running into other Depps, much to the laughter of the live and screaming crowd. The actor admitted to Jimmy that he did not really know the history of his last name, but he is obviously willing to be Heard soon.

Amid persistent rumors that their marriage is on the rocks, Amber Heard appears to be doing things that say otherwise. She just recently had her surname changed to Depp, to show to Johnny that she is into the marriage for the long term and not just for publicity purposes. However, she is not using her official surname as an actress for the obvious professional reasons.

She also took the extra effort of bonding with Johnny’s family including taking his son Jack to Disneyland recently.

Amber reportedly made a significant stride to mend her supposed rocky marriage to Johnny by spending some family bonding time with the 13-year-old Jack in Disneyland, even as Johnny continues his filmmaking in Australia for “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.”

Jack is the second child of Johnny by former partner Vanessa Paradis. Their first
born is 16-year-old Lily Rose.
