Amazing photo of ice balls on a Scottish beach

ice balls beachThis photograph was taken by a friend.a few years ago when I was in Scotland.

We were in Dundee, Scotland and it was very cold. Ten degrees below freezing!

You can see just how cold by the balls of ice that appeared on the beach. In seconds of the waves washing up on the beach it froze the water left behind as the waves rolled back. Into lots of balls of ice.

The strange thing was it only happened on one of the beaches between the sea breaker walls. The other beaches were clear except for some pieces of occasional flat ice.

Within ten minutes even these ice balls disappeared. It was lucky my friend had a camera with her because no one has believed me when I have told them here about it.
