The National Gallery of the Cayman Islands (NGCI) and Walkers welcomed enthused parents and students from six Walkers Art Clubs for an end-of-year celebration and showcase of student’s artwork 9 June 2015 in the Dart Auditorium/Community Gallery. Senior Partner from Walkers, Mr Mark Lewis explained during the opening remarks, “This year the National Gallery have named the exhibition Kaleidoscope – A good name indeed – as the exhibition really is a kaleidoscope of over 50 vibrant artwork displays, covering a cross-section of styles such as drawing, printmaking, painting, assemblage art and batik.”

Celebrating its tenth year, the Walkers Art Clubs benefit approximately 120 students each week. The NGCI afterschool clubs include pre-schoolers, primary school students, secondary school students, students from Cayman Brac, teens who are studying for their final exams, and young people with special needs. The entire programme is kindly sponsored by Walkers a long-tern supporter of the arts in The Cayman Islands and sponsor of the Walkers Art Clubs since 2005.

Mr Lewis went on to say, “The programme provides a unique opportunity for students from public and private schools to interact, work collaboratively and forge new friendships. Allowing students from both public schools and the private schools to meet and interact over art is something we at Walkers are very proud of. I would like to thank the National Gallery for supporting the programme, for providing first-rate instruction to the students and for exhibiting this unique collection of children’s artwork, which really does reflect the artistic talent of children in the Cayman Islands.”

The exhibition is scheduled to run until Saturday 20 June 2015. All are welcome to attend and admission is free of charge. For more information about the Walkers Art Clubs please contact the National Gallery at (345) 945 8111 or email [email protected].
