YMCA to launch on Sat (3)

The Cayman Islands Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) officially launches on Saturday (3) November 2012 at the Stacey Watler Agriculture Pavilion, Agricultural Grounds, Lower Valley at 2pm.

The event will be child-friendly, featuring everything from the traditional bouncing castles, cotton candy and face painting to horse rides, magic shows and story reading. All of the children’s activities and snacks are free, as is all of the entertainment planned for the day, which includes music and various performances from schools and other groups.

Vendors from the Market at the Grounds will also be in attendance to sell their crafts and food.

“This is home for these vendors and we really wanted them to be a part of our event as well. We are so happy they decided to stay on from the morning Market, and make our event even more attractive to the public,” Pastor Randy Von Kanel, chairman of the YMCA board said. “The YMCA is about family, it’s about having healthy activities and it’s about bringing the community together and that is what we aim to do with this launch event. We really hope that everyone will come out and enjoy the afternoon, give us some input about their expectations of a Y and at the same time find out more about the YMCA.”

In addition to food and drink from the Market vendors, the Lions Club will be holding a fish fry. There will also be giveaway items for all who attend, including balloons, colouring books and crayons for the children and goodies for adults as well.

One of the highlights will be random drawings where patrons have a chance to win prizes such as two mountain bikes donated by Cox Lumber Company. Organisers hope that all families will come out and enjoy the afternoon festivities, savour some great local food and take advantage of the opportunity for fellowship.
