Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman is launched

Wyndham 1Last week Cayman’s newest resort offering, The Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman, was officially launched, with government officials, industry partners and representatives from the Wyndham group all in attendance to celebrate this important occasion for Cayman’s tourism offering.
The Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman, formerly The Reef Resort, is situated at East End and became part of the Wyndham family this year, following physical renovations and changes to internal systems and procedures.
Mr Kel Thompson, Director of Wyndham Reef Resort, said working with the Wyndham Hotel Group had been a great experience.
“They were accessible, helpful, courteous and knowledgeable and very supportive of the affiliation process, the most important part of which was changing our culture and our systems to doing things the Wyndham way,” he said.
“The Wyndham Reef Resort you see today is made of bricks and steel, so it could be anywhere, but the key element that brought us here today is our people. This is an occasion that could have only come about by having a team that does whatever it takes.”
Wyndham 2Mr Gaetan Babin, Resort Director of Wyndham Reef Resort, Grand Cayman said becoming part of this prestigious and highly recognisable brand had been a fantastic experience and he was especially grateful to the efforts of the Resort’s exceptional staff.
“We are so proud to have such a great team,” he said. “In fact, we’re so proud to have probably the best team on the island,” he said. “Today the celebration is for everyone, because we all contributed to get here. Today is the first day of many years to come.”
The Deputy Premier Moses Kirkconnell, Minister for District Administration, Tourism and Transport said the launch not only marked a great day for the Resort but was an important milestone for the country as a whole.
“Having such a popular and well thought of brand such as Wyndham in the Cayman Islands means a tremendous amount to us,” he said. “We all appreciate the positive impact aligning with the largest hotel brand in the world will have on our country. It sets a standard. When visitors look at the different brands that are in our small island nation it bodes well to see a Wyndham flag flying.”
Wyndham 3Minister Kirkconnell said East End would derive great benefits from having a Wyndham resort in its midst, by providing sustainable employment and a broadening of the tourism offering.
Speaking to the Wyndham Reef Resort Grand Cayman owners and executives, he said: “You have delivered a tremendous asset to our country.”
Mr Paulo Pena, President, Latin America & Caribbean, Wyndham Hotel Group, said the Group couldn’t think of a better suited location and destination for its flagship brand than the Cayman Islands.
“Knowing that the number of visitors continues to increase each year, with record visitors this past year, we are very excited about the opportunities that we have here together,” he said. “The match between this resort, the Cayman Islands and the Wyndham brand is a winning combination and we look forward to the success of the Wyndham Reef Resort.”
Located in East End in Grand Cayman, the Resort features studio, 1 and 2 bedroom suites, on 1,600 feet of pristine beach front. Every suite has uninterrupted views of the Caribbean Sea.
Wyndham has been named one of FORTUNE Magazine’s Most Admired Companies (2008, 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013) and was named as a 2015 World’s Most Ethical Company.
