We all scream for ice cream

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream. That’s what Year Two kids from George Town Primary School were doing, at least, they were actually making it during a very tasty science experiment.

Maybe it’s a good way to get kids interested in Chemistry, but judging by the excited faces, science wasn’t the only thing on the kids’ minds as they took part in the project with teacher Natasha Wight.

“We have two spoonfuls of vanilla, sugar, and milk and,” one of the kids explained.  The ingredients all went into a plastic bag.

Ms Wight said: “Then we are putting the first bag inside a second bigger bag with ice and salt in it, and then we are going to shake it up. The salt is a freezing agent, and it’ll help the ice to work.

“It’s really fun to watch and it makes it into a kind of milkshake ice cream,” she added.
