The UWI, Regional Headquarters, Jamaica. Tuesday, February 27, 2024—The 2024 cycle of meetings of the Councils that govern The University of the West Indies (The UWI) system begins this Friday, March 1. The UWI Mona Campus Council Meeting is the first scheduled. 

Each of The UWI’s five campuses has a Council, its governing and executive body.  Considered the University’s annual business meetings, accountability of operations, finances and all activities undertaken during the academic year are presented to the Campus Councils. 

During the March 1 meeting, the feature presentation will be made by new Pro Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Densil A. Williams for the academic year ending July 31, 2023 on behalf of the Campus. Among the topics to be addressed: 

• 2022-2023 Year in Review
• Key Research Activities
• Student Data
• Staff and Student Engagement

A Q&A session for members of the media will follow. 

Similarly, Campus Council Meetings will be held at St Augustine, Cave Hill, Five Islands and Global Campus over the next few weeks. Then, on Friday, April 26, the University Council will hear a presentation from the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Sir Hilary Beckles, who accounts for the overall university system and its centre operations.
