Speaking with The Guardian this week, Payzee Mahmod, the survivor-advocate leading Freedom United’s campaign to end child marriage in the U.K., discussed the importance of Pauline Latham MP’s bill that would close the loophole currently allowing under-18s to marry with parental consent. Why my experience proves we need to end forced child marriage
Today is International Day of the Girl Child and survivor-advocate, Fatemah, is taking this opportunity to share her personal experience of forced child marriage in our Speak Free blog. Fatemah is calling for the legislative change necessary to end forced child marriage once and for all in New York. Until recently, children as young a 14 could marry in New York, and a recent amendment only raised the age to 17.
