Students view mangroves

a_0847Students from Cayman Islands Prospect Primary School view mangroves

A group of primary school students examined the Cayman Islands mangrove ecosystem on Friday, 4th March 2016, during a Prospect Primary School boat outing in the North Sound.

In addition to the mangroves; the students learned about related marine and terrestrial life as well as other elements of the sea.

This inquiry experience, presented by Cathy Childs of the National Trust Environmental Programme (both in and out of class) provided students with understandings about one of Cayman’s delicate ecosystem.

This significant aspect of the public schools’ curriculum is presented to Year-Five students, on topics inclusive of mangroves, the water cycle and climate issues.
Describing the day as “a truly memorable experience”, participants thanked Caribbean Utilities Company for funding the project, as it has for the past 14 years.
