SSC Hosts Inter Squad Reds –v- Greens Meet

Stingray Swim Club, Grand Cayman, 29 December 2012: Stingray Swim Club (SSC) members took getting ready for the upcoming Christmas holidays in stride and took part in a fun, inter squad Reds –v- Greens Meet on Friday 21st December.

The Inter Squad Meet saw Stingray Swim Club swimmers divided in to a “Red Squad” and a “Green Squad” and, as can be imagined the competition was fierce, but friendly, and the swimmers all had a great time putting their training to the test in the pool and their creativity to the test on deck.

With a number of prizes up for grabs, there were some interesting outfits on deck … and although it was a ‘fun’ meet there were some particularly intense races between Red Team’s Geoffrey Butler and the Green Team’s Matthew Courtis. The overall winner of the meet was the Green Team (although some are calling for audits of the results!) but ultimately, the winner was not the Green Squad OR the Red Squad, but Stingray Swim Club whose team spirit, comraderie and competitive edge is growing every day.

Swimmers trained the following morning and on Christmas Eve then had three days off before they were back in the pool again on Friday 28th. With the fun of Christmas behind them SSC has its eyes set now on a competitive Long Course Swim Meet in the Bahamas in mid-February, the Consolidated Water Meet which it hosts at the end of February and then, for those swimmers who qualify CARIFTA 2013.

Stingray Swim Club is a not for profit Club which trains at the Lions Aquatic Centre.
