UPDATE: We [RCIPS] can confirm that on Tuesday August 27th at approximately 5.15am police mounted an operation in West Bay where a 23yr old male was arrested for the offence of Attempted Murder. The man remains in police custody at this time.

About 9.30pm – Saturday 24th August 2013 – a shooting committed at Powell Smith Drive, West Bay, was reported to police.

Police and paramedics responded and attended the 22 year old victim who had been shot and seriously injured. He was transported to the GT Hospital, where he is being treated.

The victim was conscious and remains in stable condition. He reported that he was shot when several shots were fired at the house. The Scenes of Crime is examining the scene. Several spent shells were recovered, and multiple bullet holes were observed in the building. The scene remains cordoned pending further processing.

The West Bay CID is investigating. Motive for this shooting is yet to be established.

The Police is appealing for information in relation to this incident. Anyone who has information is being asked to call 9497777 or 800 TIPS, or the West Bay CID at 5258303.

Police can confirm that a report of gunshots fired and one male injured was received at 9:29 pm Sat 24 August 2013. Police and other emergency services responded and are on the scene.
