School Supplies Drive for Kids

L-R: Immigration staff Michael Edwards, Chastine Rankine, DCFS Social Work Supervisor Paulinda Mendoza-Williams, Jewel Walker, Julie Johnson and DCFS staff member Ernesto Carter.

With the new school year right around the corner, staff of the Immigration Department located at Cayman Centre, recently organized a school supplies drive where employees were asked to contribute school items to children and families in need.

The items donated were given to the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) for distribution.

Expressing gratitude for the generous donation, DCFS Director Alicia (Jen) Dixon said, “Resources for many families are often quite limited, so we are indeed grateful for this thoughtful gesture. These items will definitely be of great assistance to those in need.”

Accepting the donation on behalf of DCFS, Acting Deputy Director, Clinical Services Paulinda Mendoza-Williams commented, “Providing basic learning tools is one of the first steps to ensuring a bright future. Thanks to the staff at Immigration, many kids will now have a great start for the new school year.”
