Red Sail Sports announces new designed shop

Essentials PlusRed Sail Sports Launches into Holiday Shopping Season with Impressive Redesign of Westin Shops

After an extensive redesign and refit of its Westin shops, meant to wow customers and offer a better shopping experience, Red Sail Sports is welcoming the Christmas shopping season with a Grand Opening celebration that begins Friday, December 13 from 5 to 7 pm and concludes Saturday evening December 14.  Shoppers who visit Essentials Plus, a gift and souvenir shop and Mermaids, a swimsuit boutique, will experience the new look and feel of the stores while taking advantage of holiday sales, new fashion lines, and creative gift ideas, plus a taste of champagne with purchases.

Walking through the front door of Essentials Plus, guests step into a casual beach scene complete with sand at their feet and rolling waves on the walls. The laid-back and relaxed atmosphere continues with images of guests enjoying Red Sail watersports, and a checkout counter painted the color of Caribbean blue water.  The spacious layout, nautical feel and accent coloring of Mermaids are sophisticated and bright. Glossy whites, bright lights and smooth lines lend a perfect background for the brightly colored Bikinis and one-piece bathing suits on display. The only hard edges belong to the eye-catching prints and hardware-accessorized swimwear that helps set beach trends on Grand Cayman.

Operations Manager Rod McDowall says this upgrade is a direct result of the company’s new partnership with the Westin Resort. The design work was done by a US firm and the refit job by local contractors.

“As the Westin has been revamped and refitted over the past year, Red Sail Sports has matched it with improvements to our own facilities and products, and the cost is just part of the keeping up our standards,” said McDowall. “We want our customers to get the most out of their shopping experience with us, not just during the holidays, but all year long.”

The celebration begins Friday evening from 5 – 7 pm and continues throughout the next day, Saturday December 14.  Shoppers will find a great selection of resort wear and gift ideas, including Rum Point Restaurant or watersports gift certificates that make excellent stocking stuffers. The restaurant gift certificate includes a free catamaran trip from the Safehaven dock.  Residents also receive a 50% discount on diving, catamaran trips and waterports through Red Sail Sports’ local rewards program. Author and dive pioneer Ron Kipp will be on hand to sign copies of his new book From Big Blue to the Deep Blue, which is now being carried by Essentials Plus. All purchases at Mermaids and Essentials Plus will be topped off with an optional glass of champagne during the celebration.

“We’re excited about the changes and the holiday season, so a glass of bubbly seems like the perfect way to help spread the cheer,” said McDowall.

Essentials Plus carries island wear for men, women and children, as well as Red Sail Sports logo items.  Shoppers can browse through snorkel gear, T-shirts, hats and other gift ideas, and purchase watersports gift certificates. Red Sail Sports has helped set beach trends during the last few seasons. Mermaids features the latest in swimwear, cover-ups and beach accessories from wide range of designers and brands including; Ralph Lauren, Tommy Hilfiger, Carmen Marc Valvo, Vince Camuto, La Blanca, Juicy Couture, Trina Turk and Vix.

Red Sail Sports is also celebrating the addition of the Harley-Davidson store on the waterfront to its family of retail outlets.  The franchise store had a soft opening a few months ago, and is now fully up and running.  Located in the Aqua World Duty-Free Mall on South Church Street, the shop offers unique gift choices including Harley-Davidson apparel and items for everyone including; Leather Jackets, vests, shirts, jewelry, purses, collector’s pins and patches, stickers, shot glasses, poker chips, gifts and more.
