Red Bay secure first wins of the season

Red Bay’s prolific young striker Alejandro Holness scored four goals to secure victories for his school in their Under 9 and Under 11 wins over Triple C this past Saturday at the Annex Field.

In the earlier Group A game, both teams played some very exciting football with Triple C frustrating their opponents for much of the game. Triple Cs goalkeeper was excellent between the sticks pulling off some important saves.

It took 32 minutes for Red Bay to get on the score sheet as young Alejandro Holness opened the scoring before Dequan Messam added his teams second in the 35th minute. Young Holness scored his second in the 37th to complete the 3-0 score.

In the Under 11 encounter, a further two goals from Alejandro Holness and an own goal sealed Triple Cs fate as Red Bay completed the ‘double’ 3-0. Holness opened the scoring in the 10th minute to match the famous number on is jersey and added his second in the 50th minute. Triple Cs David

Harris was unfortunate to put the ball past his own goalkeeper after Red Bay’s Caleb Frederick fired a shot goal wards in the 23rd minute.

Red Bay’s Tekwan Truman failed to add to his teams tally after missing a penalty in the 39th minute.

In the day’s second set of games at the Annex Field, Group B’s Cayman International School defeated Truth For Youth 2-0 thanks to goals from Toby Johns and Andrew Webber in the Under 9 encounter.

In the Under 11 game, Truth For Youth gained some revenge defeating their opponents 4-1 after finding themselves a goal down in the 20th minute when CIS’s Jonathan Rado blasted his team in front.

A corner from Truth For Youth’s Gabriel Fisher found its way into the net following a deflection to tie the score in the 25th minute. Truth For Youth’s Rowan McLean scored in the 35th minute with his first touch of the game after coming on as a substitute and Oscar Hernandez and Elder Ebanks rounded off the scoring in the 42nd and 45th minutes.

Other results from Group A included Sir John A. Cumber Primary 0 vs. Savannah Primary 4 (Under 9); Sir John A. Cumber Primary 2 vs. Savannah Primary 1 (Under 11); St. Ignatius Prep 6 vs. George Town Primary 0 (Under 9: Mercy Rule enforced); and St. Ignatius Prep 4 vs. George Town Primary 2 (Under 11).

In Group B it was Bodden Town Primary 0 vs. Cayman Prep 4 (Under 9: Forfeit); Bodden Town Primary 0 vs. Cayman Prep 6 (Under 11: Mercy Rule enforced); NorthEast Schools 1 vs. South Sound Schools 5 (Under 9); and NorthEast Schools 1 vs. South Sound Schools 3 (Under 11).

The 2013/2014 CUC PFL regular season continues this Saturday, October 25 with games at the West Bay Town Hall Field, Annex Field, Cayman Prep and Triple C Field.
