RCIPS PRs: Teacher charged with sex offences/Explosives found man arrested/WB & GT man charged/ Complaint received inappropriate behaviour at Club

A 33 year old male has been formally charged with a number of offences of a sexual nature and will appear in court later this afternoon. The male who cannot be identified due to the victims being juveniles at the time the offences were committed is currently suspended from his position as a school teacher following his arrest in December last year 2013. The charges are as follows.

Indecent Assault x 3.

Gross Indecency x 3.

Child Cruelty x 5.

Attempted Indecent Assault x 1.

Possession of an indecent photograph of a child x 1

Misuse of ICT x 1

This morning, June 11th 2014 at approximately 0645, an operation was conducted in the district of West Bay by officers from the Drugs and Serious Crime Task Force (D&SCTF) and the Uniform Support Group (USG). During the operation several objects believed to be explosives were found. A 25yr old male has been arrested in relation to the matter.

All of the items have since been secured and safely removed to a secure location with the assistance of Cayman Islands Fire Service, National Roads Authourity and the RCIPS Scenes of Crimes.

An 18 year old man from the West Bay district has been charged with burglary in connection with an offence that occurred in Windsor Park, George Town last month.

He was arrested yesterday and a number of items of stolen property were recovered from his home address. He will appear in court today (11).

A 41 yr. old male from George town was formally charged yesterday (June 10th) with offences of Common Assault and Damage to Property. The offences occurred at an address at Governor’s Harbour on March 9th 2014. The male is bailed to appear before the Summary Court on June 24th.

EDITOR: The 41 yr old man charged is  local radio host, Austin Harris who was involved in a fracas allegedly involving a female. Harris was temporarily removed as host of Rooster101 popular talk show “Crosstalk”. We understand the owner of the radio station, Randy Merren, is standing by Harris and he will remain on air.

The RCIP can confirm that it has received a complaint regarding inappropriate behavior taking place at a George Town licensed premises. Enquiries are ongoing.

EDITOR: CITN/Cayman27 reported on News27 Tue (10) that “sexually explicit photographs appeared on a popular social networking site. The pictures were taken at a Cayman nightclub and show 2 women posing in various provocative positions.
“They were posted on the photo sharing site Instagram, but caused outrage as they spread onto Facebook. “
