Tip from member of the public leads to quick Arrest

Around 10:15AM on Monday, 7 September, plain clothes officers responded to a call from the member of the public regarding a burglary in progress in Sterling Estates in George Town. Officers quickly arrived on the scene and a man near the burgled residence tried to evade them. Officers chased and detained the man, age 38, from George Town, who had items from the residence on his person. The man was arrested on suspicion of burglary, and this morning the man was charged with one count of burglary and one count of attempted burglary. The man appeared in Summary Court today and has been remanded to HMP Northward.

Today, 9 September at about 5:30AM, uniform police officers on foot patrol in the vicinity of Cruz Lane, George Town, apprehended a man who fled upon their approach. A subsequent search of his residence, which is situated nearby, revealed a quantity of white, powdered substance resembling cocaine. The man, age 51, of George Town, was arrested on suspicion of possession of a controlled drug and suspicion of consuming controlled drugs. He is currently in custody.
