Police Respond to Shooting Incident and Make One Drug Arrest

Shortly after 2:00AM, Friday 26 January, police responded to a call to service at the George Town Hospital, where a man, with what appeared to be a gunshot wound to his stomach, had been brought via private vehicle.

Officers who attended the hospital determined where the incident may have taken place and informed police units who attended the location, in the vicinity of Finch Drive, West Bay to investigate. 

Evidence of a firearm incident was found at the location, and items were recovered for further forensic analysis.

At the hospital, officers had reason to search a male who attended with the shooting victim, resulting in the arrest of the 23-year-old man of West Bay on Suspicion of Possession and Consumption of Cocaine and Ganja.  He was transported to the Cayman Islands Detention Centre for processing.

This incident is being investigated by the police and detectives are appealing for witnesses to come forward.  Anyone with information is encouraged to call the West Bay CID at 949-3999.
