With an early 7am start on Sunday 18th November, 181 runners and walkers took part in the 2012 Pirates Week Jerry Harper 10k Run sponsored by KRyS Global. Marius Acker was first to finish and set a new course record of 34:19. First female finisher was Sara Ellis, successfully defending her 2011 title with a time of 40:16.

The Pirates Week Jerry Harper 10K Run is a challenging one but attracts over 150 runners locally and internationally. Organised by the Phoenix Athletic Club and named after the founder, Jerry Harper, who is still very much in control of this event, the race starts opposite Governor’s Beach on West Bay Road with the course running into West Bay to Town Hall Road then on to Hell Road turning around at the Devil’s Hangout and returning to West Bay Road. The finish is at The Tiki House on the beach where a great breakfast can be enjoyed.
