Parliamentarian in Bermuda love triangle admits to trespassing

HAMILTON, Bermuda, Tuesday August 17, 2016 – An MP from the One Bermuda Alliance (OBA) walked away from court with an absolute discharge after admitting to trespassing when she went to put an end to her love triangle.

Leah Scott, who represents the Southampton East Central constituency, apologized for her actions after pleading guilty before Magistrate Khamisi Tokunbo this morning.

The incident that landed Scott before the court occurred on January 29 this year.

The Royal Gazette said the court heard it came about as a result of a long-lasting love triangle involving the MP, the complainant Sonia Williams and a man romantically involved with them both.

Scott’s defence lawyer, Mark Pettingill, who is a fellow OBA parliamentarian, told the court that his client went into Williams’ home, without her invitation, to tell her she would no longer be pursuing a relationship with the man. He said Scott left when Williams ordered her to.

The Royal Gazette reported that Magistrate Tokunbo noted Scott’s clean record, her guilty plea and that the severity of the case was at the low end of the spectrum, and decided that an absolute discharge was appropriate.
