The Canadian Ombudsperson for Responsible Enterprise has opened an investigation into complaints about the overseas operations of the popular brand Nike and mining company Dynasty Gold. The complaints allege that Uyghur forced labor was used in the operations or supply chains of the accused companies. Read more…

Migrant care workers exploited by unscrupulous employers in U.K.
U.K. healthcare trade union leader, Christina McAnea, has written to the U.K.’s social care minister urging her to address increasing reports by overseas care workers of “shocking abuse”. Forms of exploitation include workers being required to be permanently on call, working 19-hour shifts without breaks, having wages withheld and being required to pay large illegal sums to recruitment agencies. Read more…
