NBSC announces new general manager

1371606714ca_national_logoSenior executive at Jamaica National Building Society (JNBS) Wanica Purkiss has been appointed General Manager of National Building Society of Cayman (NBSC).  Her appointment was announced on Tuesday (25).

Mrs. Purkiss replaces Dunbar McFarlane, who retired in April after almost a decade of service to the building society.  Mrs. Purkiss previously served as senior executive in mortgage and international business development at JNBS, the parent company of the NBSC.

Jamaica National Building Society is one of the largest mortgage providers in the Caribbean with total assets of US$1.1 billion and a capital base of US$177 million. National Building Society of Cayman has a capital base of US$2.3 million.

Mrs. Purkiss assumes the position at a challenging time in the world economy as countries around the world begin to emerge from the financial crisis of 2008, NBSC said. Her experience in risk management, including loan under-writing, will support the governance framework of the mortgage provider, NBSC said.
