Lest we forget

Today we joined the worldwide community in reverently remembering all those who perished in New York, Virginia, and Pennsylvania in the terrible attacks of September 11, 2001. At the same time, we also mourn the loss of countless others killed by violent extremists in years past. 

Sadly, attacks of violence often beget more destruction and suffering as retaliation is pursued. In the words of the Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr., whose own life was shortened by senseless violence: “The ultimate weakness of violence is that it is a descending spiral, begetting the very thing it seeks to destroy. Instead of diminishing evil, it multiplies it.”

Let us rise to the challenge President Barack Obama issued during an address in 2011: “Even the smallest act of service, the simplest act of kindness, is a way to honor those we lost, a way to reclaim that spirit of unity that followed 9/11.”

New CTO SG takes fresh guard

The Caribbean Tourism Organization (CTO) warmly welcomed its new Secretary-General and CEO, Dona Regis-Prosper (left). She makes history as the first woman to lead the inter-regional organization. 

Regis-Prosper’s tenure began on September 1. 

During last week’s press conference in George Town, Cayman Islands, Regis-Prosper was joined by Kenneth Bryan, CTO Chairman and Minister of Tourism and Ports for the Cayman Islands (center), and Rosa Harris, CTO Chairman of the Board of Directors and Director of Tourism in the Cayman Islands (right). 

Together they shared updates on regional tourism.
