CALIFORNIA, United States, Tuesday September 23, 2014 – Barbados’ pop princess Rihanna and American actress Amber Heard are among the latest victims of the photo hacking scandal that has embarrassed and outraged celebrities with its public display of nude and sometimes compromising photographs that were always intended for strictly private viewing.

Two topless images of Rihanna were leaked online via 4chan and Reddit on Sunday, while the American star became one of the hardest hit victims with over 50 nude pictures made public, one of which included a message believed to be for her fiancé Johnny Depp, according to celebrity website TMZ.

The recent hack didn’t seem to faze some as they posted their opinions on Twitter:

Nude snaps allegedly showing actresses Leelee Sobieski and Lake Bell were also leaked online on Sunday, E! Online reported.

Sunday’s leaks represented a fraction of the torrent unleashed over the weekend, with nude pictures allegedly of reality TV star Kim Kardashian-West, actresses Kaley Cuoco, Vanessa Hudgens and Kate Bosworth, and American goalkeeper Hope Solo being released.

According to TMZ, the images were reportedly uploaded to 4chan and Reddit, with the latter speedily removing them in keeping with its stringent policy on hacked photographs not being shared on the site.

The intimate pictures that allegedly feature Kim Kardashian-West were reportedly a major draw, showing a woman who resembled the celebrity taking nude selfies in a bathroom setting.

This would not be the first time Kardashian, who is married to rapper Kanye West, has been faced with controversial material being leaked. In 2007, her sex tape with then-boyfriend Ray-J was published online.

Meanwhile, fellow victim Gabrielle Union said she would be contacting the FBI after she confirmed images of her online were genuine.

In a statement to TMZ alongside her husband Dwyane Wade, Union said: “It has come to our attention that our private moments, that were shared and deleted solely between my husband and myself, have been leaked by some vultures.

“I can’t help but to be reminded that since the dawn of time women and children, specifically women of colour, have been victimized, and the power over their own bodies taken from them,” the statement continued. “These atrocities against women and children continue worldwide.”

According to TMZ, Union is among the violated celebrities who are reaching out to the FBI in the wake of the stolen images.

The latest chapter in the photo hacking scandal comes just three weeks after intimate photos of “Hunger Games” star Jennifer Lawrence and scores of others, including supermodels Cara Delevingne and Kate Upton and actress Aubrey Plaza, were published online.

Lawrence, an Oscar-winner for her role in “Silver Linings Playbook,” contacted authorities after the images began appearing.

“This is a flagrant violation of privacy,” her publicist wrote in a statement. “The authorities have been contacted and will prosecute anyone who posts the stolen photos of Jennifer Lawrence.”

The hacking is believed to have been the result of “a very targeted attack’ on celebrity ICloud accounts, and last month actress Kirsten Dunst became the first celebrity to publicly criticize technology giant Apple when she posted a sarcastic message on Twitter.

“Thank you iCloud,” the Spiderman star tweeted the day after naked photos of her were published online.

Apple has denied that its iCloud system was compromised during the attacks, which it claims were the result of “a very targeted attack on user names, passwords and security questions.”

The tech giant, which said it was “outraged” by the security breach, has now advised apprehensive customers to update their accounts with a strong password and enable two-step verification.
