Mentoring Cayman 2015 comes to a close

2015 Mentors & Mentees at the annual luncheon

The 2014-2015 Mentoring Cayman programme is coming to a close in the next few weeks. Congratulations to the students and mentors for completing this important journey together. There will be a graduation ceremony held at the Governor’s residence on Wednesday, 17 June 2015 to provide awards to each of the students and mentors.

The Chamber of Commerce is inviting business leaders and senior managers to participate in the Mentoring Cayman programme for the 2015-2016 academic year. Mentors from all industry sectors are encouraged to submit an application.

Launched in 2002, and supported by the Ministry of Community Affairs, Youth and Sports, Mentoring Cayman is a youth development initiative that has assisted more than 400 high achieving motivated high school students to become the next generation of business and community leaders.

The goals of the programme are:

  • Motivate students to achieve higher results in school.
  • Introduce students to potential new career paths.
  • Encourage students to seek post-secondary education.
  • Promote students development into competent and confident individuals.
  • Develop a positive work ethic.
  • Raise awareness of mentoring.

Mentoring Cayman consists of one workplace visit each month for seven months. The official launch of the programme which is under the distinguished patronage of Her Excellency the Governor Helen Kilpatrick, will take place in November with the first workplace visit scheduled for December.
