Kids have a fun day at Camana Bay last Sunday (11)

Sponsored by Progressive Distributors and Cayman 27 at Camana Bay, it was an event in which the whole community came together through the provision of gifts, resources, or just helping out.

Hundreds of kids came out and enjoyed a day where the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman cooked and served food. Rotaract helped with signing up the children so they got the chance of winning a bicycle –five ere given away.

Leos Club provided snow cones, and the Cayman Islands Royal Police Service Dog Handlers, Drug Squad and Community Officers entertained the kids. It was great fun when the police traffic department had the kids sitting on the bikes or in the police cars with the sirens blaring. There was also the Humane Society there with their furry friends available for petting and walking.

Among the fun and games was a painting competition, fancy dress competition, beautiful baby competition, bouncy castle, and face painting. All the pirates were there: the Texas Pirates, the Seattle Seafair Pirates, Blackbeard and his First Mate, Dee Gee and the amazing Johnny Depp lookalike. There was also something special happening on the water.

Food and drink was provided for all the children, including hot dogs, hamburgers, Ocean Spray, Gatorade, and snow cones. To ensure that the little ones did not get sun burnt there was ample supplies of sun screen courtesy of Ocean Potion.

Every child received a free gift and had the chance to win one of the five bicycles, thanks to the generosity of CIBC First Caribbean International Bank, G.E.L., and Kirk Home Centre. The awards for the Children’s Artwork Competition and the Children’s Poetry Competition from the school competitions throughout the islands were given out.

The event started at 12.00 noon and ran past its scheduled time of 4.00pm
