“The Cayman Islands Seafarers Association wishes to inform the community that the Hall is now available for Rental every day of the week, including Saturdays as the church is no longer contracted with us at 11 Victory Ave. Prospect.

Buses will be provided from West Bay Town Hall at 6:00 pm.

A Bus route has been added in George Town, leaving the Public library parking area at 7:00, stopping at Cayman Compass building and the Airport Fosters. The bus is marked Bobo $1 Public transport and is blue in colour, there is no charge.

August 30, 2018 – In the first seven months of this year alone, the international business court of the Cayman Islands concealed 21 insolvency petitions in which the liabilities collectively exceeded $1.2 billion, including five against companies listed on foreign stock exchanges. Cayman court secrecy on the rise: 55% of recent financial cases are sealed

August 06, 2018 – The court that hears international business disputes in the Cayman Islands is sealing records of liquidation petitions and other cases at unprecedented levels, meaning that foreign investors, creditors, and clients of Cayman-domiciled hedge funds and other companies are not alerted to insolvencies and other problems, OffshoreAlert can reveal. Secrecy has escalated to the point where more than half of all cases filed in recent months are sealed.

Celebrate Cayman Sister Island Ceremony

The public is invited to take part in the Celebrate Cayman Sister Islands ceremony, Thursday 6 September at 9 a.m. on the lawn of the District Administration Building in Cayman Brac.

The Acting Governor, The Premier, and other government officials will be in attendance and will give remarks.

Attendees will hear the story of the Coat of Arms, as well as a reading of the Coat of Arms proclamation. In addition, the public will get to hear a special recording of the National Song, enjoy musical performances by students of Layman E. Scott High School and have a taste of local food.

Film crew helps the Caribbean

Press Release:- After the recent hurricanes in the Caribbean, We would all like to see the region thrive again.

A film crew is doing just that. Isla y Vuelta is an Emmy nominated travel series that shows the true Caribbean.

The film crew has set up an online store where visitors can purchase a “One Region, No Worries” T-Shirt with all proceeds going to the recovery efforts of the affected islands and delivered personally by the film crew when traveling to film.

“The region is stronger when we all work together. And the stronger we are, the less worries we have”, said Harold Jessurun, Executive Producer of the series.

Celebrate Cayman Travelling District Display

Caymanian culture and history will be the focus on Celebrate Cayman’s Travelling District Display.

The display has been curated by the Cayman Islands National Museum and features artefacts that share the story of the Coat of Arms. The display also serves as a preview of the museum’s upcoming exhibition on the Coat of Arms.

Each district will host the display for a period of two weeks. Additionally, Celebrate Cayman has partnered with Cayman Airways to host a family fun day for each district when it houses the display.

The display will kick off in East End on Tuesday 4 September, at the East End United Church Hall. The public can visit the Celebrate Cayman website to learn when the display will be in their district.

Cayman Islands: Roadworks Planned for Esterly Tibbetts Highway

The National Roads Authority (NRA) would like to notify the public that work will be conducted on Esterly Tibbetts Highway, near the Century 21 roundabout, on Sunday 26th August.

The work will be carried out between 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. by Island Paving, on behalf of the NRA. There will be some lane closure to facilitate the work. Motorists are asked to follow all signs and drive with caution.

Cayman Islands; East End District Community Meeting Thursday, 30 August

The RCIPS will be holding a District Community Meeting in East End on Thursday evening, 30 August. The meeting will be held at 7:00PM at the East End Presbyterian Church Hall.

The meeting is open to the public and residents are encouraged to attend in order to express concerns and ask questions. Refreshments will be served.

Cayman Islands NCVO Bargain Shop Extending Opening Hours

The NCVO’s New To You Bargain Shop is extending its opening hours from three to seven hours daily for the remainder of August. Starting on Monday 13th August the Bargain Shop will open from 10:00am to 6:00pm daily (except Sundays) continuing through the end of the month.

Customers can find a myriad of lightly used products on sale including household items, baby supplies, stuffed animals and toys, shoes, books, clothes (including select school uniforms) and craft items.

The New To You Bargain Shop is located at 90A Anthony Drive off Smith Road (beside the rear entrance of the Pines Retirement Home). Sales from the thrift shop benefit the NCVO’s children’s programmes.

Shows are at the Prospect Playhouse on Thursdays, Fridays andSaturday evenings from 6th Sept to 16th September at 7.30pm, with Sundaymatinees on the 9th and 16th at 4pm. Doors open one hour before the performance with The Curtain Call Bar.

Cayman Islands: NRA Announces Construction of the Extension

The National Roads Authority (NRA) has begun construction of the Elgin Avenue extension.

The construction will extend east of Elgin Avenue from the CNB roundabout, connecting to a new two-lane roundabout, with exits to Printer Way and Crewe Road. When construction is complete motorist will not be able to access Printer Way via Thomas Russell Avenue.

Construction will last approximately four months. During the construction period drivers are asked to keep watch for traffic diversions and asked to drive with caution.

NRA thanks the public for their patience during these roadworks, and look forward to providing the benefit of these much-needed improvements.

The KAABOO Cayman festival has announced plans to donate some of its proceeds to local nonprofit agencies on the island.In a news release, festival organizers said $1 of every ticket sold would be set aside to support three local and one international charitable groups. Two-day passes for the festival are expected to start at more than $200 when the lineup of entertainers is announced at 7:30 a.m. on May 15. The Ministry of Community Affairs is inviting the public to attend one of its five presentations, later this month, identifying self-harm and suicidal thoughts. The free presentations, being hosted with the support of the Alex Panton Foundation, will educate parents, residents and the community on how to identify self-harm and suicidal thoughts/behaviours. Attendees will also be advised about how to respond and who to reach out for help, guidance and support. The next meeting is Wednesday (19 Sept) at 7pm at the East End Civic Center

September is Literacy Month and throughout the entire month Camana Bay is celebrating and encouraging reading for all ages! This year’s theme is Unravelling Mysteries Through Reading, and activities include the return of the Scavenger Hunt, where children can unravel the clues given to them to solve a case! Once children have solved the mystery, they can return their map to Books & Books and receive 10% off their next book purchase. While children are visiting Books & Books they can enter the Advent Calendar competition by writing about their favourite book to be entered for the chance to open an advent calendar door during the holiday season.

During Literacy Month we will also be supporting a number of local authors who have written children’s books. These include Kate Ure, author of Alphabet Island, Kathleen Bodden Harris, author of Quest on a Marl Road and EK Jasmine, author of H is for Heritage. Adults can also take part in reading by attending this month’s Bookends Club at Books & Books, which will cover The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Camana Bay will also be showing our support to LIFE (Literacy Is For Everyone) by contributing 10% of all mystery-themed book sales during the month of September to the organisation. Bring the family down to Camana Bay to show your support and encourage reading!

At the end of the month on Saturday, September 29 ,your children can also take part in Gamers Bay, the annual Video Gaming Tournament and Convention in the Cayman Islands, which is the ultimate event for gaming enthusiasts. On Sunday, September 30, come out and show your support for breast cancer awareness as Eclipze Hair Design & Day Spa hosts its Annual Cut-A-Thon for the 18th year in a row. Treat yourself to salon services at discounted prices and funds will benefit The Lions Club of Tropical Gardens’ Breast Cancer Awareness Fund.

Come out to Camana Bay this September and show your support for good causes while enjoying all that the Town Centre has to offer!
