ICTA gets acting Managing Director

UnknownGRAND CAYMAN, Cayman Islands – Cabinet has approved the appointment of Mr. Glen Daykin as Acting Managing Director of the Cayman Islands Information and Communications Technology Authority (ICTA). Mr. Daykin has been the Deputy MD since June 2011.

Mr. Dave Archbold will leave his post as Managing Director effective November 26th, 2013 and Mr. Daykin will serve until a new Managing Director has been appointed pursuant to section 6(1) of the ICTA Law.

The position for Managing Director has been advertised locally with a closing date for applications of November 22nd, 2013.

EDITOR:

It would appear the removal of David Archbold from his position as head of the ICTA came after a meeting on Thursday October 17 at the Finance Committee meeting.

North Side MLA Ezzard Miller asked Archbold about irregularities in recruitment practices at the ICTA. The ICTA head denied the authority had advertised two posts in the local press despite having already sent contracts to candidates overseas before the date for applications had been closed.

However, when the documents were later produced by Archbold, it proved Miller’s charges were correct.
