Hurley’s and Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink team to sample Cayman grown products

Building on the success and excitement of their first joint event in March, Executive Chef Thomas Tennant of Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink in Camana Bay joins Hurley’s Gourmet Deli for a complimentary tasting of locallyraised Cayman beef and produce from the Michael’s Genuine food cart this Saturday, April 14 at Hurley’s Grand Harbour.

The restaurant’s mobile cart will be parked at Hurley’s entrance from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. as part of an on-going effort to showcase how easy and delicious it is to find and prepare fresh, local products on island.

“We’re really pleased to be working with Chef Thomas and Michael’s Genuine on these monthly local tasting events,” said Hurley’s Marketing Manager Scot Kristal. “Both Michael’s and Hurley’s work with many of the same ranchers, growers, and fishermen. It’s only natural that we team up to promote their great products together. Our customers want the best local products and we’re delighted to offer them a chance to try them here at our store.”

Customers will be able to sample Cayman Beef Sliders topped with grilled scallions, tomato, lettuce, and scotch bonnet aioli prepared by chefs of the two establishments. Customers attending the free event will be sampling a Hurley’s favorite, local beef ground fresh daily by Hurley’s Butcher Bruce Carlile from the finest quality, dry aged Cayman beef.

“Whenever I have the opportunity to get out of the restaurant and work with great products and people, I’m in,” said Chef Tennant. “We share a common philosophy with the folks at Hurley’s, and by working together we can become better at what we do, as well as educate both our customers and ourselves on what is out there and help promote Cayman’s rich resources. The possibilities are endless.”

All of the ingredients needed to make the dish at home will be available for purchase at Hurley’s, along with copies of the recipe for the Scotch Bonnet Aioli prepared by the chefs.

On the back of the recipe cards is an exclusive offer for Hurley’s Customers at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink’s Farm-to-Table Dinner with Slow Food South Sound in Camana Bay the following Saturday, April 21. The multicourse, family-style meal celebrating local farmers and their bounty begins at 7:00 p.m., but at 6:15, Chef Tennant will offer a personal cooking demonstration for Advantage customers using fresh local ingredients from Hurley’s

Meat and Produce departments. Cardholders will also receive a special take-home goodie bag of treats prepared by pastry chef Adriana Duran.

Another Michael’s food cart appearance is scheduled at Hurley’s on May 12th. Menus and recipes for this event will be developed based on fresh, local availability.
