Last June, Connie Reeves Cooke was in New York at the Book Expo America promoting her second novel Cayman Heat. This June, she is celebrating news that her entertaining page-turner has been picked up by a major cable network for a TV series.

She emailed Thursday morning, “My book, Cayman Heat, is officially in development as of yesterday. Needless to say, I am thrilled to death . . .  it’s a MAJOR network which is very excited about the series as it has all the ingredients of a hit show . . .  love, lust, power, sex, high society, money and murder.”

Cooke’s Los Angeles publicist, Miranda Spigener Sapon, had been shopping the tome around Tinsel Town and found three networks that were initially interested. It was bingo this week but Sapon and Cooke are keeping a lid on the details until the particulars are nailed down.

Sapon will serve as producer with Cooke in the position of associate producer/creative consultant and as a part of the writing team. The book is currently in the hands of actor/director/travel writer Andrew McCarthy with hopes of him signing on as director. His directing credits include episodes of Gossip Girl, White Collar and Lipstick Jungle.

Stay tuned!
