Higgs & Johnson expands Corporate Commercial department in Cayman Islands

thumb_DSC04307On 7th August, 2014 Rob Humphries was admitted to practise as an attorney-at-law in the Cayman Islands by the Honourable Mr. Justice Charles Quin QC on the application of Higgs & Johnson, Attorneys-at-Law.

The admission application was made by Partner, Mr. Philip Boni, who welcomed Mr. Humphries to the firm and led the Court through Rob’s distinguished legal career. Mr Humphries most recently was a partner in the Corporate Commercial department of the well-known South African firm, Fairbridges, which, like Higgs & Johnson, is a member of the worldwide network of law firms, Terralex.

Mr. Justice Quin welcomed Mr. Humphries to the Cayman Islands, stating that he was confident that Mr. Humphries extensive legal experience would be put to good use at Higgs & Johnson, which is a very busy firm. Mr. Justice Quin went on to speak of the cosmopolitan nature of the Cayman legal fraternity, indicating that Mr. Humphries qualifications not only from Stellenbosch University in South Africa, but Antwerpen University in Belgium, were, he believed, “firsts” for the Cayman Islands. Mr Justice Quin particularly welcomed the additional flavour that Mr Humphries now brings to the jurisdiction and invited Mr. Humphries to sign the Roll and be admitted to the Bar of the Cayman Islands.

Mr. Humphries thanked the Court and Higgs & Johnson, indicating that he would uphold “Honour” and Integrity” in all his dealings, in line with his new law firm’s motto: “Honor et integritas”.

Also attending the admission was Country Managing Partner of Higgs & Johnson in the Cayman Islands, Ms Gina Berry. Ms Berry indicated that the firm is very happy to have an attorney of Mr Humphries calibre join an already strong team. Mr. Humphries specializes in Corporate and Commercial work, M&A and general commercial transactions. He has advised domestic and multi-national clients across a range of industries including Financial Services, Commercial Real Estate, Healthcare, Retail, Agriculture, Fishing and Marine Resources.
