News of Cayman’s brand new hospital complex, Health City Cayman Islands, as a ground-breaking new model for healthcare for the 21st Century, has reached the international stage, having recently been featured in a new documentary which was showcased at the Healthcare Analytics Summit in Salt Lake City, UT last month.

In particular, the documentary, produced by Health Catalyst, showcased Health City as an example of a model for US health systems. The documentary, entitled “From the Heart: Healthcare Transformation from India to the Cayman Islands,” spotlights the incredible work Health City Cayman Islands founder Dr Devi Shetty has undertaken in order to bring affordable high quality healthcare not only to the people of India but across the world, via his Narayana Health organisation.

In the documentary, Dr Shetty confirmed: “It’s the strategy of our group to reduce the cost of healthcare across the planet.”

Viewers get a unique, inside look into the operations of the hospital with Health City Director Gene Thompson showcasing its exceptional facilities, along with interviews with Dr Chandy Abraham, Medical and Facility Director at Health City and leading Health City heart surgeons.

In particular, Dr Chandy explains Health City’s unique price bundling of services, to emphasise the fact that, unlike hospitals elsewhere, Health City Cayman Islands will only charge one, competitive fee, which includes all costs such as anesthesiologist and hospital fees.

In the documentary, Mr Thompson discusses the significance of Health City Cayman Islands for the provision of healthcare services for the region: “We’re never going to match India and their costs. But we feel we can show that in a high-cost destination we can provide high-quality low-cost healthcare if we think outside of the box.
