HBO Latin America And Weststar announce licensing agreement

HBO-LatinAmericaMiami, FL – October 27, 2014 – HBO Latin America and WestStar in the Cayman Islands have officially formed a commercial agreement for the distribution of the HBO/MAX family of channels, allowing customers to enjoy quality, premium programming. This agreement comes in light of the recent acquisition of WestStar by Logic Communications Ltd.

Now, subscribers of the HBO/MAX premium package can enjoy over 300 new titles per month – including exclusive and award-winning series, films and documentaries, all with no commercial breaks – through the variety of channels offered in both their standard and high definition feeds: HBO, HBO Plus, HBO Plus Panregional, HBO2, HBO Family, HBO Signature, MAX Prime, MAX Prime Panregional and MAX UP, plus two channels created exclusively for the market, HBO Caribbean and MAX Caribbean.

“HBO is very pleased to have reached a mutual agreement that will bring our programming to all WestStar subscribers in the Cayman Islands, with both companies committed to providing customers with a premium viewing experience,” said Javier Figueras, Corporate Vice President of Affiliate Sales for HBO Latin America. “We appreciate that the new leadership took charge to ensure proper delivery of the best content, in the highest technology, and we look forward to having a long-standing, successful partnership.”

Next month, HBO subscribers can tune in to original productions premiering day-and-date with the United States, such as the new original mini-series “Olive Kitteridge,” the third and final season of the acclaimed drama “The Newsroom,” and season two of the comedy “Getting On.” Viewers will also enjoy exclusive premieres of blockbuster films every Saturday on HBO, like the Marvel hit “Thor: The Dark World” and the family favorite “Frozen.”

On MAX, subscribers gain access to award-winning international films, documentaries and series. The channel features exclusive, weekly film premieres from the most respected directors and internationally recognized actors, with independent titles each Saturday such as next month’s debut of “The Congress,” and blockbuster hits on Sundays like “Before Midnight” and “The Angel’s Share.”
